Can it really be that another year of ballet lessons is coming to a close?
Miss L’s annual ballet recital is upon us. This year I see more little girl than baby, another one of those bittersweet changes.
I decided last week that I would shoot her recital portraits myself this year. There’s nothing wrong with the ones done through the studio; I just wanted something more “me” this year. After the dress rehearsal, we had a little photo shoot on the grounds of the performing arts center. It wasn’t all roses, tulle and smiles; copious amounts of pleading and bribing took place, in addition to abandoning one location in favor of another that wasn’t housing a colony of chiggers. (I’ve been itching and scratching ever since; I’m hoping it’s psychosomatic.)
It was certainly worth it.
What a beautiful ballerina. She looks so much more mature indeed. I know how you feel about those little ones growing up. Sometimes I wished I could put those precious moments and periods in a little box, to hold on to them a little longer. On the other hand, every new period, every growth, brings so many new pleasures and amazement. At least you will have tons of wonderful pictures to help you remember all those wonderful moments together

Chiggers…we had a run in with those when we were in St.Louis visiting friends this past summer. Well, both the girls and hubs, me not so much.
I look forward to seeing Miss L’s photos if you are going to share them…I hope, I hope!

What a sweetie you have there! Our ballet recital is this weekend too. We have 3 costumes. I had one shoot done at the studio, but might do the other 2 myself tomorrow or Friday.
Btw, where do you find your wordpress themes? Do you have a source you like or just search their database. I love your theme. Did I tell you that already? Have a great weekend with your precious little girl!
