Tagged Again
Thanks to Blair for tagging me. It’s taken me less time than usual to get around to this meme, so that’s gotta be noteworthy.
Six Things About Me You May/May Not Know
1. I am a major geek. MAJOR. I like Star Trek, Star Wars, Buffy, comics, computers — you name it, I probably like it.
2. Claustrophobia, thy name is Mary. I am incredibly claustrophobic. I’ve been known to wake up in a panic at night because I’ve managed to get the blankets wrapped around myself in such a way that I feel trapped. Large groups of people have the same effect, which is why I tend to avoid places like the mall during the holidays.
3. I’m an absent-minded correspondent. (OK, some of you already know this. *cough* Christi *cough*) I tend to fall off on my side of the conversation and finally remember I need to respond about a month later. It’s the downside of multitasking — some things require a singular effort and I put them off until I have the time to focus on just one thing. Sadly, that takes a while.
4. This one probably makes me an awful person: I’m not so much about the forgiving. It’s usually a one-shot deal with me. Blow it and that’s it; game over. And I’m not big on that whole, “well, it’s family” as an excuse to put up with stuff. Just because we’re related doesn’t mean you get to crap on me.
5. I will watch the same movies over and over again. I’ll even cry at all the same parts. To wit: Field of Dreams, A League of Their Own, The Notebook (shut up!), Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes.
6. In my head, I’m closer to 25 than 40. And I have a hard time reconciling the two. Seriously — I can’t be almost 40 years old. Good grief — I watch Gossip Girl!
I’m going to tag some new folks: Amy, Mandy, Octamom, Yvonne and Stacerella.

Hehehe, we share the same claustrophoia issues lol. I’m the same with the blankets and even if the kids lay on me around my head I feel like I’m suffocating and need to get out! I’m the same with big crowds too. If I can’t easily move about then I stress out big time!!! I know what it’s like forgetting things so I understand
Tonight I just cried because I misplaced my Avon return paper and cried for about 15 minutes. DH found it immediately even though I looked in the same place TWICE! Some days I really feel I am losing it lol. #4 I go back and forth on. It’s hard for me in sooooooo many ways! #6, I am the same! I still enjoy those ‘young’ shows and just this morning I was having a ‘naughty’ dream about David Archuleta

Oh Mary, once again I am not surprised! We really are so much a like!! I am right there with you on all of these except #2. We really do have to get together someday. I am sure we would become instant friends and have a blast comparing notes. Not to mention, can you imagine what kind of trouble we could get into if we went fabric shopping together!

Wow I totally agree with #5. The one that always gets me is A Walk To Remember. I start crying pretty much right away because I know the plot too well!

Oh yeah…5 and 6? I’m hearing you on those…also, I try to avoid malls, but it’s because all the craziness makes me feel overstimulated and then I just want to curl up in a ball…

My room-mate and I in College would watch the same movies over and over and over again. For weeks at a time then we would switch the movie. And I love gossip girl.

Re #6: I knew I was getting older when they came out with a new and (maybe not) improved Beverly Hills 90210. The worst part is I can’t stop thinking disapprovingly how much racier it is than the old one!

You and I sound like we were separated at birth. I’m almost 40 (in Jan.), I work in my husband’s computer store, I’m claustrophobic, I’ve been called rigid and unforgiving too, I’m too flaky to follow email threads well, and I love One Tree Hill (my secret guilty pleasure).

Ha! Another geek here, especially fantasy/sci fi stuff like Star Trek, Firefly (I still haven’t seen Buffy yet), even Dr. Who. Considering a big part of my income comes from other geeks at anime conventions, I have no problem with geekiness.

Crazy, huh? It helps to have my husband or another “lifeline” there to help me stay grounded. Or to help me if I do start to have a panic attack.

My husband has gotten really good at calming me down when I’m half asleep and tangled up. Poor guy!

I know! I hate that we live so far apart. Definitely need to figure out a way to meet up someday.

I’m such a big baby but I can’t help myself.

I’m finding the overstimulation has gotten much worse since I left the workforce. I think it’s because I spend so much time alone or just with Miss L.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
I can totally relate. And my husband just does not get it.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Oh, yeah! The geeks shall inherit the earth. LOL!
September 12th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
See, I just can’t stop thinking about how much better the original 90210 was to the new one.

I catch OTH on the soap channel every now and then. I have no idea what’s going on but I have noticed a tendency for “smell the fart acting” by pretty much all the men on that show.

You haven’t seen Buffy?! Head. Might. Explode!
September 13th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
LOL
Ditto for me (and yes, I watched Gossip Girl last night)
